As the name implies, the difference between the inside and outside diameters of the rings has been minimised or thinned out. Of course, this comes at a price by compromising load capacities. However, these bearings can still accommodate a relatively light radial thrust or combined loads. Section Deep groove ball bearing are available in open type bearings, shield (ZZ) or seals (LLU & LLB)

Thin section ball bearings are suitable for applications where the space between the shaft and the housing is limited and a normal deep groove ball bearing or a normal angular contact ball bearing cannot be used.
